Any teacher is eligible. Please send a letter verifying that you are a bona fide teacher with your application. Your spouse is welcome. Those who do not wish to participate in the program pay a reduced rate.
As there are limited places on the Reading Safari,
a selection process is necessary. A short-list is made, and these applicants are
interviewed personally, where possible in a location close to the home town. Travel to and
from the interview location is at your cost. Those who live outside the concentrated areas
of applicants are interviewed by telephone. Final selection is then made. Each person
selected (and their accompanying spouse) must then provide a certificate from a medical
doctor stating there is no medical reason why they should not participate in this program.
Visas are not required for entry
into New Zealand from the USA and Canada.
Please ensure your passport is up to
date.

To gain maximum air ticket reductions, you must leave as part of a group from a common international airport. You are free to return home at a time of your choice, although this may incur an extra cost. All travel between your home town and this common point of departure including any accommodation to ensure flight connections, is at your own cost and not included in the program fee. It will be possible for you to add internal travel to your international ticket to benefit from the resulting savings in ticket costs. You will also need to ensure you are covered by medical and travel insurance for the entire trip.
Should it become essential for you to cancel your participation, written notice (or fax) must be sent to INTERead NZ Ltd immediately. Cancellations prior to the interview will qualify for a 50% refund of the deposit. Cancellations received after the interview will not qualify for any refund in the deposit.
Late arbitrary withdrawal from the program after the payment of the full program fee, without supporting documentary evidence as proof of a legitimate reason, will mean forfeiture of the entire cost of the program. We strongly advise you to take out cancellation insurance.
