You are placed in a school that has been identified as having a top teacher of reading. Each school is contracted to provide a program designed to meet your professional development objectives, which is monitored by the Principal. The school is required to arrange for your travel to and from school each day.
You are partnered with a teacher who has been
identified as a highly skilled teacher of reading. Most of your time is spent observing
and interacting with this teacher in their classroom, learning from their experience those
intangibles that are impossible to learn in a workshop.
We ensure that the relationship that you have with this teacher is one that enables you to
complete your professional development objectives. This is done by:
Each school arranges for one or two host
families who will be pleased to welcome you as a guest into their home.
Every host undertakes to:
Every host is visited personally by us to
ensure these responsibilities are understood and a compatible match for you is found. Your
first night in the country is spent in a hotel. This is followed by an initial meeting
before you move in, to discuss expectations and concerns. Regular monitoring of your stay
takes place to ensure your comfort and compatibility.
Schools are discouraged from hosting the
applicant with the buddy teacher.
Almost all our host families request that
participants are either non-smokers or do not smoke in their homes.
